INFORMATION

Biography:
I was born and raised in South Africa, where I learned English as my home language, and Afrikaans as my first additional language. During my high school days I was head of the Sound and Lighting Department, where my passion for event coordination and my keen eye for things to look perfect began - Since there I have gone downhill. I then went on to study at the Open Window Institute of Art and Digital Sciences where I obtained my Batchelor of Film Arts Degree specialising in 3D Animation

Hobbies and Interests:
I have a passion for robotics, AI and computer sciences. I participated in the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists where I participated on a regional, provincial and national level. Over the course of 4 years I built prototypes designed to explore areas that are too small or dangerous for humans to explore. This could include burning or collapsed buildings, and even unexplored caves. Over the 4 years where I officially participated, I accumulated 11 Gold medals regionally, provincially and nationally.

I also have a passion for digital environmental architecture and landscape creation, where I enjoy exploring theories of Viewer Engagement Psychology. My particular area of focus is linked to Mental Illness, and how virtual experiences can promote educational awareness around various topics, and the ability that games and films are able to break the boundaries between our lives and these concepts - where creators are able to share experiences that viewers can engage with on a deeper level. Rather then just seeing a character; becoming that character, feeling their every emotion, understanding there thinking and actions. Taking a step out of our own lives and experience life through the perspective and reality of others.

Requiem Journey:
I first became an Officer on 1 October 2020 where I joined the SoT Officer Team. I unfortunately stepped down not long after due to time constraints that resulted from the pandemic. I later joined the Recruitment Team on 28 February 2021 and a few months later joined the Event Team, and became a Recruitment Senior. After just over a month of being a senior, I joined the Moderator Team to become the Event Lead, which is now the Event Coordinator position. In January of 2023 I transitioned into the Creative Manager role where I went hands on with the branding and quality assurance of Requiem's creative efforts. It was truly a Christmas miracle when on 25 December 2023, I was was offered an Admin position within the community, with my role also being promoted from Creative Manager to Creative Director.

Favorite Game:
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
Instead of making a game about mental illness, Ninja Theory created a game featuring a character who experiences mental health issues, and subsequently shares a world that is very real to the character. This concept is conveyed via the use of visual and audible hallucinations suffered by the protagonist, Senua. The game is brutal, and the only help or guide that the player gets is through visual hallucinations and voices in the characters head. The only way to master the game is to listen to, and accept the voices as they fluctuate between being helpful, and being incredibly degrading. The emotions I went through while playing this game are indescribable.

During an accolades trailer, an anonymous message was displayed stating that Ninja Theory, "got a message across that [they] never could" after that person experienced a Psychosis breakout a few years prior. brilliant game. Changed my perspective on so many things and ultimately changed the course of my academic research.

Fun Facts:
I'm gay, but I have a special connection to classical music. There's many things that are interesting about me.
